Clay My Way: Hand-building and the Pottery Wheel w/Sandra Barrett (Adults 18+)
 
This 8-week class is held on Thursday nights for adults 18+.

Discover the joys of creating in clay while receiving hands-on instruction in hand-building and pottery wheel techniques. This class is for beginner & intermediate levels and provides students with guided instruction. It is not an open studio.

Materials fee covers 25lbs of clay, firing fees and glazing supplies/materials. Students will work with a selection of Museum "in house" glazes. If a desired glaze is not included in the Museum's "in house" glaze selection, please connect with the instructor. We may be able to order your desired glaze at an additional cost.

OF NOTE: We're saving energy during our kiln firings. All artworks created during this class will be available for pickup by the beginning of June 2020. An email notification will be sent out. We encourage students to take photographs of the artworks they created during this session for reference during pickup.

Intermediate & Advanced Painting w/Lisa Granata (Adults 18+)
 
This 8-week class is held on Friday nights for adults 18+. There is NO class on May 22nd - please mark your calendars.

Emphasis will be given on developing your skills in professional painting techniques. Explore color, perspective, mark making and personal style while working from life and your imagination. Attention given to composition, value, color theory and painterly processes. Students provide materials and may choose to work in oils or acrylics.

NEW! Painting with Color w/Susan Bauer (Adults 18+)
 
This 8-week class is held on Friday mornings from 10am-1pm for adults 18+.  There are no art classes on Friday, April 24th and May 22nd - please mark your calendars. 

This class is designed to develop or strengthen your skills for all aspects of color mixing: Hue/color, value, warm/cool, intensity/saturation and opposites/complementary. Students will create their own value and color charts, and use these charts to expand and explore the use of color in their oil or acrylic paintings. Excellent for all levels. Students will work from direct observation through the use of still life arrangements, as well as the use of photographs to expand on subject matter. Students provide materials.

NEW! The Altered Surface w/Cindy Petruccillo (Adults 18+)
 
This 6-week class is held on Friday afternoons for adults 18+.
There is NO art class on April 24th - please mark your calendars.

Materials fee covers all art supplies needed.

In this course students will alter and manipulate paper, fabric and other surfaces using marbling techniques, alcohol inks, image transfer and various 2D elements. In this class, students engage in the practice of repurposing and assemblage. Designing and composing one layer at a time, students will see their work evolve with imagery that is both inventive and expressive. Class is open to all levels – no art experience required.

This 6-week class is held on Saturday afternoons for ages 14-17.

Students will explore a variety of media such as drawing, painting, and printmaking. Assignments will be designed to strengthen each student’s portfolio. In this class, students will work from life, a live clothed model on multiple days and their imaginations. This class will have a distinct focus on the figure including gestures, portraits, full body and skeleton projects. Emphasis on personal style and experimentation will be encouraged, all students work to their own ability levels. Open to beginner and intermediate levels.

Focus will be on SHAPE – create a slab lantern with original cut-out designs, slumped bowls with a unique texture and experiment with slippery forms on the pottery wheel. NEW! Drawing A Floral Still-Life in Pastels w/Lisa Granata (Adults 18+)
 
This 6-week class is held on Thursday nights for adults 18+.

Students will create beautiful floral still life drawings. The class will use the flora subject matter to explore the media and techniques of pastels. Demonstrations will be presented on drawing with chalk pastels with the tip and side of the stick, hatching, blending, scumbling, feathering, optical color mixing and dusting. Techniques for oil pastels including the use of solvent will also be demonstrated/discussed. This class will also experiment with combining mixed media and collage into a personal floral project. Emphasis will be on individual progress and self-expression. Class is geared towards beginner and intermediate levels. Students provide materials.

Watercolors - Let Your Inner Artist Blossom w/Ben Macomber (Adults 18+)
 
This 6-week art class is held on Thursday mornings for adults 18+. 

Explore watercolor basics such as color mixing, composition and how to make a brushstroke while discovering your personal style. Demonstrations on various techniques will be given students will work primarily from photos and the occasional still-life if desired. Excellent class for beginners and refresher for intermediate levels.  Students provide materials and are welcome to bring their own photos for inspiration.
