This 8-week class is held in-person at the Attleboro Arts Museum on Saturday mornings for ages 9-13. 

Students will quickly improve their drawing skills and build a body of work on paper. Explore techniques in pencil, charcoal, ink wash and experiment with mixed media collage as an alternative approach to drawing. Students will even create their own unique drawing implement for creating one-of-a-kind marks. This class is project based and is perfect for the serious young artist! Open to beginner and intermediate levels. All art materials are included in tuition costs.

NEW! Emotions in Action! Teen Art Studio w/Lisa Granata For Ages 14-17 (In-person)
 
This 8-week class is held in-person at the Attleboro Arts Museum on Saturday afternoons for teens 14-17. 

Brush it! Scrape it! Smudge it! Drip it! Assignments will be designed to strengthen each student’s portfolio and will focus on working from observation, creating imaginative visions and developing a personal style. Get your feelings and emotions out by drawing, painting, printing and collaging in action! Emphasis will be on self-expression, exploration of art media and experimentation will be encouraged. This 8-week class is held in-person at the Attleboro Arts Museum on Saturday mornings for ages 5-8. 

Discover your own creativity while learning basic drawing and painting techniques. Youngsters will explore key elements of art such as line, color and texture while learning how to make unique marks on paper and brushstrokes in tempera and watercolor paints. Master artists through the ages will inspire each project. Students will create artworks in both color and black and white. All materials are included in tuition costs.

Explore acrylic painting techniques and play with color theory and design on canvas! Create powerful portraits, sensational still-lifes and lively landscapes while learning about color mixing, composition and tints & shades. NEW! White Out! Snow Animal Inspirations in Clay w/Tracy Korneffel For Ages 5-8 (In-person)
 
This 6-week class is held in-person at the Attleboro Arts Museum on Saturday mornings for ages 5-8.

In this hands-on clay class, students will learn the basics of hand-building such as pinch pot, slab and coil ceramic techniques while creating wintery snow animal inspired artworks. Make snowy owl pinch pots, frosted fox faces with coils and leaping leopards landscapes using slab tile techniques. All art materials are included in tuition costs.

We're saving energy during our kiln firings. All artworks created during this class will be available for pickup within 2-3 weeks after the final class. An email notification will be sent out. We encourage students to take photographs of the artworks they created during this session for reference during pickup.

NEW! Winter Whimsy! Penguin Pitchers, Polar Plates & the Pottery Wheel w/Tracy Korneffel For Ages 9-13 (In-person)
 
This 6-week class is held in-person at the Attleboro Arts Museum on Saturday afternoons for ages 9-13. 

Students will explore imaginative hand-building, inspired wheel throwing & sculpture projects that include unique vessels & tableware. Create a penguin shaped pitcher, a snowflake plate or platter and develop your skills in throwing vessels on the wheel – how high can you go… to the North Pole perhaps? Demos of techniques will be shown and discussed. Each student will experience time using the pottery wheel as well as creating with hand-building techniques. All art materials are included in tuition costs.

A Change of Scenery: Exploring Nature in Watercolors w/Kris Occhino For Adults 18+ (In-person)
 
This 6-week class is held in-person at the Attleboro Arts Museum on Tuesday mornings for adults 18+. 

Explore the fundamentals of working in watercolor such as color-mixing, composition and how to make a brushstroke. Let “Mother Nature” inspire your paintings as you learn to use light and texture while developing your personal style. Demonstrations on various techniques will be given. Students provide materials and are welcome to bring their own photos for inspiration. Open to the committed beginner & intermediate levels.

Clay Play: All Levels Ceramics HAND-BUILDING w/Tracy Korneffel For Adults 18+ (In-person)
 
This 8-week class is held in-person at the Attleboro Arts Museum on Thursday evenings for adults 18+.

Open to students of all levels who are interested in exploring the joys of creating in clay. Intros and refreshers of practices for working in HAND-BUILDING techniques such as coil, slab and pinch pot will be discussed and demonstrated. Students will be working on their own independent and personal projects. We ask that students come to class with project ideas in mind and encourage participants to bring images that inspire them for incorporation into their individual designs. The instructor will guide students as needed on the success of their ceramic creations.

Materials fee covers 25lbs of clay, firing fees and glaze. Students will work with a selection of Museum "in house" low-fire, food safe glazes.

Clay Play: All Levels Ceramics WHEEL-THROWING w/Tracy Korneffel For Adults 18+ (In-person)

Intermediate Relief Printmaking: HOT off the PRESS! w/Lisa Granata For Adults 18+ (Hybrid)
 
This 8-week class is held virtually via Zoom on Thursday evenings for adults 18+. The Zoom invitation is included in the confirmation email. MARK YOUR CALENDARS – the last 2 nights of class on Thursday, Feb 24th and Mar 3rd will be held in-person for students to use the printmaking press.

Students will experiment with relief printmaking processes while exploring the practice of using linocut tools, brayers, mixing inks, inking the plate, hand-printing with a baren and using the printmaking press. Students will create artist proofs, ghosts and a limited edition of relief prints. Students will work in an open studio format and may choose to create in any relief process such as stamping, single/multiple blocks, hand-tinting, reduction, jigsaw and mixed media applications. The subject matter will be determined by individual student interests.

Students provide materials.

This 8-week class is held in-person at the Attleboro Arts Museum on Friday mornings for adults 18+. 

Enjoy a relaxed class for anyone who wants to learn how to draw, or expand on their drawing skills. Explore fundamental refreshers and essential drawing techniques such as how to arrange a strong composition and use a variety of lines, marks and tones to bring a work on paper to life. Focus will be on drawing “artful adornments” from observation including fabric, jewelry and some incorporation of the portrait. Be inspired by modern artists like Lorna Simpson and Mickalene Thomas as well as pieces on display in the Museum’s main gallery. Open to beginners and intermediates. MARK YOUR CALENDAR! Class on Friday, Feb 25th will be held in the main gallery. A special gallery tour will be given by an AAM staff member. Chairs will be provided for students to work from jewelry on display within Adorned! Jewelry Design from the Ancient Mediterranean to Attleboro, MA running Feb 12th-26th, 2022.
