*What is mixed media you ask? Mixed media covers a fun range of art making techniques including 3-D creations such as assemblage, altered objects (books and boxes), papier maché, wire, found objects, and cardboard designs. This art week could include the materials previously listed, please keep in mind all projects are subject to the discretion of the art instructor’s lesson plan.

NEW! Blend the Rules! Drawing Explorations w/Lisa Granata For Ages 9-13
 
This 8-week class is held in-person at the Attleboro Arts Museum on Saturday mornings for ages 9-13. There is no art class on Saturday, Nov 5th for our Auction weekend – please mark your calendars!

Students will quickly improve their drawing skills and build a body of work on paper. Explore techniques in graphite, charcoal, ink wash and more. Students will even “blend the rules” by exploring unique forms of mark-making and experimenting with fun twists on traditional drawing applications. This class is project based and is perfect for the serious young artist! Open to beginner and intermediate levels. All art materials are included in tuition costs.

NEW! Nuts & Huts! Autumn Clay Critters w/Tracy Korneffel For Ages 5-8
 
This 6-week class is held in-person at the Attleboro Arts Museum on Saturday mornings for ages 5-8.

In this hands-on clay class, students will learn the basics of hand-building such as pinch pot, slab and coil ceramic techniques while creating fall inspired artworks. Get muddy and messy while making acorn nesting bowl pinch pots, squirrel cups with fluffy tail handles and hedgehog huts using coil and texture techniques. All art materials are included in tuition costs.

We're saving energy during our kiln firings. All artworks created during this class will be available for pickup within 2-3 weeks after the final class. To help orchestrate the pickup process and to make sure students receive all their creations – please mark your calendars that pickup will likely take place between Nov 29th – Dec 3rd, 2022 (subject to change due to kiln firings). Discover your own creativity while learning basic drawing and painting techniques. Youngsters will explore key elements of art such as line, color and texture while learning how to make unique marks on paper with charcoals and oil pastels as well as brushstrokes in tempera and watercolor paints. NEW! Makers Gonna Make! Hand-building & the Pottery Wheel w/Tracy Korneffel For Ages 9-13
 
This 6-week class is held in-person at the Attleboro Arts Museum on Saturday afternoons for ages 9-13.

Students will explore imaginative hand-building, inspired wheel throwing & sculpture projects that include unique vessels & tableware. Create a fall animal pinch pot sculpture … think chipmunk, rabbit or fox! Build a slab cylinder and cutout unique shapes for an illuminating lantern and develop your skills in throwing vessels and bowls on the pottery wheel. Demos of techniques will be shown and discussed. Each student will experience time using the pottery wheel as well as creating with hand-building techniques. All art materials are included in tuition costs.

This 8-week class is held in-person at the Attleboro Arts Museum on Saturday afternoons for teens 14-17. There is no art class on Saturday, Nov 5th for our Auction weekend – please mark your calendars!

Portraiture will be our concentration this session. Assignments will be designed to strengthen each student’s portfolio and will focus on working from observation, creating imaginative impressions, and developing a personal style. Vessels, Vases & Votives, Oh My! All Levels Ceramics HAND-BUILDING w/Tracy Korneffel For Adults 18+
 
This 8-week class is held in-person at the Attleboro Arts Museum on Thursday evenings for adults 18+.

Open to students of all levels who are interested in exploring the joys of creating in clay. Intros and refreshers of practices for working in HAND-BUILDING techniques such as coil, slab and pinch pot will be discussed and demonstrated. Students will be working on their own independent and personal projects. We ask that students come to class with project ideas in mind and encourage participants to bring images that inspire them for incorporation into their individual designs. The instructor will guide students as needed on the success of their ceramic creations. Students will be using the same studio for wheel-throwing & hand-building. This listing is for HAND-BUILDING ONLY (NOT ON WHEEL).

Materials fee covers 25lbs of clay, firing fees and glaze. Clay tools that are part of the Museum’s studio are provided to all students to use during class. Students will work with a selection of Museum "in house" low-fire, food safe glazes. Please review pages 4-5 of our Museum School Art Student Handbook for information regarding classroom expectations and studio guidelines for adult ceramic classes prior to registration.
